Gratuitous tank battles9/8/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() So, imagine a WW2 setting where Allied troops are fighting the Nazis, alright, but now you have laser weapons and even mechs at your disposal. GTB is a tower defense game that unfolds on a sci-fi alternative history setting, where Great Britain is still fighting the Nazis (or at least it seems to be them) 200 years after the second world war has ended (in normal time frame). That’s nice, but what exactly is Gratuitous Tank Battles? It doesn’t allow you to do much more than “go that direction” or “kill that thing” I’m afraid but that’s already a big improvement from GSB in my opinion, where there you could only setup your missions, hit start and sit back to enjoy the fireworks. ![]() First of all GTB allows you to issue commands to units. Jim wrote about Gratuitous Tank Battles a while ago and it sounded very good indeed, containing, as it will, both trench warfare and death-dealing giant robots. The expansion pack is $5.99/£4.91 and is available under the DLC button here. There’s a trailer showing some particularly gratuitous space battles below and a new pic from Positech’s upcoming Gratuitous Tank Battles for your eyes to look at. Swanning around the galaxy looking for host species to grow their larvae in? It’s not on. The new ships belong to the titular Parasites faction, who sound very unpleasant indeed. While this fresh bit of DLC doesn’t add any new game modes, it does add 10 new ships, three new pieces of equipment and a new scenario. Observant eyes may have noticed that there’s a new expansion out for Gratuitous Space Battles, the fleet building slice of indie goodness from Positech. ![]()
